# Songs

> Build and manage your song library with key, tempo, and duration for every track.

<Snippet file="pro-badge.mdx" />

Roadcase includes a song library for each artist. This is the foundation for building [setlists](/music/setlists.md) — every song you add to a setlist comes from your library.

## Adding songs

To add a song to your library:

1. Navigate to **Songs** in the sidebar
2. Click **New song**
3. Fill in the song details:

| Field | Description |
| - | - |
| **Name** | The song title |
| **Key** | The musical key (e.g., C major, A minor, E flat) |
| **Tempo** | Beats per minute (BPM) |
| **Duration** | Song length in minutes and seconds |

4. Click **Save**

## Managing your library

Your song library is a searchable list of all songs. From the library, you can:

* **Edit** any song to update its details
* **Delete** songs you no longer perform
* **Search** by song name to find a specific track

## Song details in setlists

When you add a song to a [setlist](/music/setlists.md), the song's key, tempo, and duration are pulled from the library as defaults. You can override these values on a per-setlist basis — for example, if you play a song in a different key at a specific show.

## Who can manage songs

Both **administrators** and **members** can add, edit, and delete songs. Crew members can view the song library but cannot modify it. See [Roles & permissions](/core-concepts/roles-and-permissions.md) for details.

## Tips for maintaining your library

* Add songs as you write or learn them so your library stays current
* Keep tempo and key information accurate — it is useful for building setlists with good flow
* Use duration to estimate total setlist length when planning sets
