# Flights

> Track commercial and private flights for your touring schedule.

Not every tour leg happens in a van. When your schedule calls for air travel, Roadcase lets you track flights alongside the rest of your tour logistics so nothing falls through the cracks.

## Flight types

Roadcase supports both commercial and private flights:

| Type | Description |
| - | - |
| **Commercial** | Standard airline flights with flight numbers, airlines, and terminals |
| **Private** | Charter or private flights with flexible departure details |

## Creating a flight event

To add a flight to your schedule:

1. Click **New event** on the calendar
2. Select **Flight** as the event type
3. Choose **Commercial** or **Private**
4. Fill in the flight details
5. Click **Save**

### Flight fields

| Field | Description |
| - | - |
| **Title** | A name for this flight (e.g., "LAX to JFK") |
| **Date & time** | Departure date and time |
| **Departure airport** | Where the flight leaves from |
| **Arrival airport** | Where the flight lands |
| **Airline** | The airline (commercial flights) |
| **Flight number** | The flight number for tracking |
| **Notes** | Confirmation numbers, seat assignments, or other details |

> [!TIP]
>
> Put confirmation numbers and booking references in the notes field so your team can access them quickly without searching through email threads.

## Flights on the calendar

Flight events appear on the calendar just like any other event type. When planning a tour that mixes driving and flying, you can see at a glance which legs are road travel and which are air travel.

## Fly dates

A common touring pattern is the "fly date" — a one-off show in a distant city that requires flying in and out. For fly dates, you will typically create:

1. An outbound flight event
2. A [Lodging](/tour-planning/lodging.md) event for the overnight stay
3. The [Show](/tour-planning/shows.md) itself
4. A return flight event

Grouping these together under a [Trip](/tour-planning/trips.md) keeps the entire fly date organized as a single unit on your calendar.
